Saturday 23 November saw local athlete, weightlifter and 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Emily Campbell giving a demonstration with other members of Atlas Gym where she trains.
While there, market traders presented her with a cheque for £2,000 to help her achieve her goal of representing Team GB at the Olympics in Tokyo next year.
Emily has only been weightlifting a few years, having moved from competing for Notts Athletics Club in the hammer and shotput.
After winning bronze in Australia last year, she’s now currently ranked 9th in the world and is on track to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games. She’s off to China to compete next month, and the money will help with her travel and accommodation costs.
If you’d like to help Emily, you can do so at her fundraising page.
