I’ve been fitting out local children from 26 primary and secondary schools across Nottingham for over 25 years – making sure they look smart from their first day right through to the shirt-signing leavers’ celebrations that have become popular these days.
After being made redundant I needed to take stock and decided it was time to try something different. So I started trading in school uniforms on Bulwell Market, and I’ve never looked back.
It’s a real pleasure to serve the local community, and I love seeing the proud parents when they see their child turned out in their new uniform – especially as many of them had stood in the same spot with their own parents years before!
August is a really busy month for me, as parents get ready for the new school term in September. I’m busy most days, however, because, as every parent knows, children grow out their clothes really quickly, and replacements are needed for those items that have been lost or damaged too.
I was once asked if I could source a Newcastle United football kit for a regular customer, and when I said I couldn’t she threatened to never buy from me again… I decided it probably wasn’t a good idea to lose her custom, so I travelled to Birmingham to collect one for her!
She was delighted and I must have impressed with my customer service because we’re now good friends and since then she has offered my wife a job – we were even invited to her wedding!
Call and see Kev every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday on Bulwell Market, he’s clearly one of the best school outfitters there is!
