Bilborough | Hyson Green | St Ann’s
I’ve been selling fruit and veg in Nottingham for 30 years.
Ours has always been a family-run business – my parents used to run it – and it’s been operating now for almost a century.
The best thing is all the people you meet – I try my best to liven things up and have a bit of fun with the customers. One time the brollies were up at Sneinton Market and the wind was taking them, so I held ours down… not realising it was on a lady’s foot! The look of alarm was priceless, and I was really apologetic. We all had a laugh about it afterwards, though!
All our customers are regulars – we just keep having people coming back. Things are definitely seasonal, though. In summer, people come for the strawberries and the salad bits, and the vegetables tend to be the best sellers in the winter.
For all your seasonal fruit and veg, pop along and see Chris on Tuesdays at St Ann’s, Wednesdays and Saturdays at Hyson Green, Thursdays at Bilborough
